“This is a work that has us consider our acceptance and enjoyment of the distance between one another.”
New Year is overrated. January mostly sucks. But there’s something beautiful about starting a fresh.
For my first recommendation, I wanted a track that embodied feelings of hope, warmth, and new beginnings. Visit Croatia by Alabaster DePlume covers all those emotions, and more.
Alabaster DePlume is an eccentric artist. Eccentric in the true sense of the word. He’s a musician known for his love of improvisation, often not letting his band rehearse before playing live. He allows the moment to take over and make every show different.
I’m drawn to this song because it reminds me of a new day dawning. The way the saxophone notes flutter over the piano chords feels like coloured light on water. A boat slowly approaching new shores.
Visit Croatia is taken from the 2012 album “Copernicus”.
